Learn Spanish in Palma de Mallorca

Study Spanish in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands that has a reputation for stunning architecture and amazing parties.

Palma has a fascinating history, having been a settlement since the Bronze Age and then being ruled by the Romans and Arabs before becoming a Spanish territory. You can find out more about the city's past by visiting the Castell de Bellver, a 14th century castle set on a hill that offers beautiful views of the city, the Gothic Catedral de Mallorca and the Banys Àrabs, Arabian baths that were built in the 10th century. Of course, the city also contains various museums and galleries that explain more about the island’s cultural and historical heritage.

Mallorca has been a popular holiday destination since the 1950s and as a result has a very well-developed tourist infrastructure. From water sports to exploring local villages, fancy restaurants to all-night parties and trendy boutique shops to family-friendly adventure parks, there is something to interest every visitor. Around half of the island’s population lives in Palma and, as a result, it is also a busy commercial and cultural centre for locals.

In Mallorca the official languages are Spanish and Catalan, and the Catalan spoken on the island is a specific dialect called Mallorquí. However, you will have no problem communicating in Spanish during your stay on the island as all locals can speak both languages.
