Language courses abroad in Russia
Study Russian in Russia, the largest country in the world and the land of the Tsars, ballet and vodka.
This huge country is full of contrasts: here you can find busy modern cities, amazing onion-domed cathedrals, incredible arts and music, expansive Siberian landscapes, ski resorts and serene lakeside retreats. Visit Moscow or St Petersburg to see some incredible national treasures, glittering palaces and to go to the world-famous ballet and opera houses. For beautiful landscapes, head to Lake Baikal, one of the world’s oldest geographical features and an Eastern Siberian highlight. Alternatively, if you are looking for a taste of Russian life outside the city, try the towns of Suzdal or Pskow to see some beautiful churches and wooden cottages.
Although vodka is the popular drink throughout the country, Russian cuisine is much more diverse, varying from region to region. Some popular dishes include: cold soups containing sour milk such as okroshka (окро́шка) or tyurya (тю́ря); pelmeni (пельмени), a type of dumpling in which a minced meat filling is wrapped in a thin dough; and, for special occasions, blini (блины́), thin pancakes. For a drink without vodka's kick, try kvass (квас), an ancient bread-based beverage flavored with fruit or herbs that contains a minimal amount of alcohol.
