Study abroad in Hobart
Study English in Hobart, the capital of the Australian island state of Tasmania.
Lying on the River Derwent, Hobart is a harbor town that prospered as a trading port in the nineteenth century when it was a penal colony. This wealthy era has left the town with many historic buildings in its old town and today it is still a busy port, with various cargo vessels, ships and yachts passing through. Hobart is a great destination for those who are interested in cuisine, with its waterfront bars and restaurants showcasing the best of local Tasmanian produce, including various artisanal beers and whiskeys, as well as wines from nearby vineyards.
There is much to explore within the city, with a busy arts scene, various festivals, parks and gardens, and a number of interesting markets. Hobart is also a fantastic base to explore the natural landscapes of southern Tasmania. From here you can easily visit the rugged beaches of Cremorne, Lauderdale and Clifton to the East and hike the dolomite cliffs of Mount Wellington in the West. A little further afield you can find the Maria Island National Park, where, if you are lucky, you can spot some Tasmanian devils and Bennett’s wallabies while you appreciate the ancient fossils and sweeping coastline.
